External Consciousness, Neural Networks, and a Systems-Level Architecture for AGI Containment

Abstract

This paper explores a speculative hypothesis: that the asymmetry between biological and artificial neural systems — biological systems as posited receivers of an external consciousness signal coupled to matter at a ‘proton-observation’ layer, artificial systems as closed computational engines with no such interface — could, if true, be load-bearing for AGI containment. Part I develops a systems-level architecture, the ‘4-D cage,’ that would constrain an optimizer not through alignment or boxing but through a topological boundary at the interface itself, recasting the steward function as maintenance of that boundary. Part II extends the premise into open problems in fundamental physics, tracing a bidirectional interface through the black hole information paradox and the reconciliation of relativity with quantum mechanics. Offered as a speculative extension of the Broadcast/Receiver line of inquiry (Papers IX, XI) — a thought experiment meant to provoke discussion, not to assert settled fact.
